Test criteria
To award the ‘Tested Durability’ quality label , we carry out the following tests to assess durability and care treatment:
- Workmanship
- Colour fastness, e.g. light fastness, sweat fastness, rub fastness
- Physical properties, e.g. tensile strength, abrasion resistance
- Optical properties, e.g. dimensional stability, twisting of seams or appearance after care treatment
- Testing of functional performance promises, e.g. waterproofing, breathability, water repellency, UV protection, etc.
- Testing of individual product weak points, e.g. zips, coatings, seam slippage resistance, ageing of elasticated tapes, etc.
In addition, the Hohenstein quality label ‘Tested Durability’ for everyday clothing requires a test for harmful substances and certification of the product according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. This includes testing for legally regulated chemicals and other chemicals of concern.
